Carbon content from 0.25% to 0.60% . There are many kinds of products, such as killed steel, semi killed steel and rimmed steel. In addition to carbon, but also contains a small amount of manganese (0.70% ~ 1.20%). According to the casting quality is divided into ordinary carbon structural steel casting and high-quality carbon structural steel casting. The heat treatment and cutting performance are good, and the welding performance is poor. Strength and hardness are higher than those of low carbon steel casting, while plasticity and toughness are lower than those of low carbon steel casting.The quenched and tempered medium carbon steel casting has good comprehensive mechanical properties. The highest hardness can be up to about HRC55 (HB538), and the σb is 600 to 1100MPa. Therefore, in the medium level application,the medium carbon steel casting is most widely used. Besides as building material, it is widely used in various mechanical castings.
(3) high carbon steel casting
It often refers to as tool steel, carbon content from 0.60% to 1.70% can be hardened and tempered. A hammer casting is made by 0.75% carbon content steel; cutting tools such as drills, taps, reamers that are made of carbon steel 0.90% to 1%.
