Axle sand casting is widely used for engineering machinery.The material is low alloy steel.Cast steel is a kind of iron base alloy which is used to produce casting and is one of casting alloy. Cast steel is an alloy with iron and carbon as its main elements, with 0-2% of carbon content. Cast steel is divided into 3 type: cast carbon steel, cast low-alloy steel and cast special steel. It can produce several kilograms to several hundred tons of steel castings.
Cast carbon steel: cast steel is that carbon as the main alloying element and contains a small amount of other elements. Carbon is less than 0.2% as the cast low carbon steel, carbon is 0.2% to 0.5% as the cast medium carbon steel, carbon content is greater than 0.5% for the cast high carbon steel. With the increase of carbon content, the strength of cast carbon steel increases and the hardness increases. Cast steel with high strength, plasticity and toughness, low cost, is used to manufacture the heavy load casting in heavy machinery, such as rolling mill frame casting,base casting for hydraulic machine; the large force and impact castings for railway vehicle,such as bolster casting, side frame casting, wheels casting, coupler casting,etc.
Cast low alloy steel casting: cast steel casting contains manganese, chromium, copper and other alloy elements. The total amount of alloy elements is generally less than 5%, which has greater impact toughness and can obtain better mechanical properties by heat treatment. Cast low alloy steel casting has better service performance than carbon steel casting, it can keep casting’s quality and improve service life. Cast special steel casting is the alloy casting steel that is suitable for special needs with variety of alloy cast steel and usually contains one or more high alloy elements to obtain a particular property. For example, high manganese steel contains 11% to 14% of manganese is impact wear resistance and usually used for mining machinery, engineering machinery wearing parts.
